Joseph Alois Schumpeter (1883-1950)

Austriaco nacionalizado americano. Uno de los más prestigiosos e influyentes economistas del siglo veinte. Es un erudito de la historia del pensamiento económico. 

 Estudia los ciclos y los sistemas económicos. Aunque sus profesores (Böhn-Bawerk) pertenecieron a la  escuela austriaca, a lo largo de su vida evoluciona,  se hace keynesiano y al final de su vida, influido por el marxismo, predice la caída del sistema capitalista y el paso al socialismo.
