RESUMEN
El carbón vegetal es un producto forestal maderable valorado por su uso energético en el ámbito doméstico e industrial. En San Luis Potosí su demanda es de 2200 t año-1, lo que propicia su elaboración y transporte ilegal. Estas actividades ilegales conducen el aseguramiento precautorio del producto por PROFEPA, pero resulta difícil documentar las especies de árboles utilizados. La mayor parte del carbón vegetal con más valor en mercado proviene de especies como mezquite y encino, Por lo que este trabajo contribuye al reconocimiento de las especies utilizadas.

ABSTRACT
Charcoal is a wood-based forest product valued for its domestic and commercial energy use. In San Luis Potosí, the demand for charcoal is 2200 t/year-1, which leads to its illegal processing and transportation. These illegal activities lead to the precautionary seizure of the product by PROFEPA, but it is difficult to register the species. Most of the charcoal with the highest market value comes from species such as mesquite and oak, so this work contributes to the recognition of the species used.
