LA GESTIÓN DE REVISTAS CIENTÍFICAS DESDE UNA PERSPECTIVA ORGANIZACIONAL. UNA NECESIDAD INSOSLAYABLE

RESUMEN

La literatura científica revela los principales elementos disruptivos que han marcado las investigaciones en torno a las revistas científicas; que, entre otros aspectos, han coadyuvado a ampliar el conocimiento sobre los distintos modelos de publicación científica, el impacto y la visibilidad de las revistas científicas, y a descubrir tendencias y debates emergentes sobre las prácticas editoriales. Ello exige considerar el carácter organizacional de la gestión de revistas científicas; sin embargo, las contribuciones muestran un trasfondo matizado por las ciencias de la información en general, y de la edición científica en particular.  En tal sentido, se realizó una sistematización de experiencias investigativas, con el objetivo de fundamentar la necesidad de emprender la gestión de revistas científicas desde una perspectiva organizacional, a fin de contribuir a su aproximación y abordaje desde dicha área del conocimiento científico. Se emplearon como métodos teóricos el análisis y síntesis, el hermenéutico–dialéctico, el holístico–dialéctico, y el inductivo–deductivo; y como método empírico, la revisión documental. Se pudo afirmar que las revistas científicas como entidades sociales comprometidas con la comunicación científica, con un soporte editorial y recursos humanos para lograrlo; constituyen un contexto por excelencia de realización práctica de la gestión organizacional; perspectiva desde la cual se pueden atender varias de las carencias y limitaciones de las que son portadoras este tipo de organizaciones; y que sólo pueden ser abordadas con técnicas, métodos y herramientas de las ciencias administrativas y las teorías organizacionales, para la consecución de sus objetivos.

THE MANAGEMENT OF SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS FROM AN ORGNIZATIONAL PERSPECTIVE. AN UNAVOIDABLE NECESSITY

ABSTRACT

The scientific literature reveals the main disruptive elements that have marked research on scientific journals, which, among other aspects, have helped to expand knowledge about the different models of scientific publication, the impact and visibility of scientific journals, and to discover emerging trends and discussions on editorial practices. This requires considering the organizational nature of scientific journal management; however, the contributions show a background nuanced by information sciences in general, and scientific publishing in particular. In this sense, a systematization of research experiences was conducted, with the aim of supporting the need to undertake the management of scientific journals from an organizational perspective, in order to contribute to its approach and focus from this area of scientific knowledge. Theoretical methods used were analysis and synthesis, hermeneutic–dialectic, holistic–dialectic, and inductive–deductive; and empirical methods were documentary review. It was possible to affirm that scientific journals as social entities committed to scientific communication, with editorial support and human resources to achieve it; constitute a context par excellence of practical realization of organizational management; a perspective from which several of the deficiencies and limitations of this type of organizations can be addressed; and which can only be approached with techniques, methods and tools of the administrative sciences and organizational theories, to achieve their objectives.
