RESUMEN
El reconocimiento de la dignidad, como valor y derecho esencial de los seres humanos, es uno de los elementos más significativos y generador de polémicas en la evolución del ordenamiento jurídico social, tanto a nivel internacional como en Cuba. El objetivo del presente estudio de reflexión es sintetizar, comprender y actualizar el conocimiento científico sobre la dignidad, su lugar y papel en el proyecto social cubano y en específico en la formación de los futuros profesionales universitarios. La estrategia utilizada es la triangulación múltiple, esto es, triangulación de fuentes de datos, de métodos (empíricos y teóricos) y de las informaciones obtenidas en el periodo comprendido entre enero de 2018 y octubre de 2020; en la cual se sigue el criterio de saturación o redundancia, según Morse (1994), de modo que se obtiene una base cómoda de conocimiento que permite cumplir el objetivo propuesto. Los resultados apuntan a que el concepto de dignidad humana es trascendental. Se sitúa en el centro del proyecto social cubano, y en la formación del futuro egresado de la Universidad de Holguín. No obstante, deficiencias detectadas en el comportamiento de los estudiantes universitarios de primer año de la carrera de Ingeniería Mecánica, manifiestan algunos de los desafíos de la universidad en los procesos de formación/apropiación del valor dignidad, lo que favorece la elaboración de un sistema de acciones para mejorar la dignidad en los estudiantes de referencia.

ACTIONS TO IMPROVE THE DIGNITY OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
ABSTRACT
The recognition of dignity, as value and the human beings' essential right, is one of the most significant elements and generator of polemics in the evolution of the juridical social order, all over the world and in Cuba. The objective of this reflection study is to synthesize, comprehend and update the scientific knowledge about dignity, its main role and position in the cuban social project and specifically in the development of the future university professionals. Multiple Triangulation is the strategy used to accomplish this investigation, that includes triangulation of data sources, methods (empirical and theoretical) and the information obtained between January 2018 and October 2020; taking under account the redundancy or saturation criterion according to Morse (1994), this allows to consolidate and obtain, a solid base of knowledge to achieve the proposed objective. The results reveal that the concept of human dignity is transcendental for the cuban social project as well as the formative process of university students. Deficiencies detected in the behavior of students, who are in first year of Mechanical Engineering, represent some of the challenges for our university in the process of formation and appropriation of this value, which motivates the creation of an action plan to improve dignity, based on its importance and impact on the students in question.
