EL MOLINO COMO APUESTA INNOVADORA ANTE EL TURISMO MICE: UNA PROPUESTA BALEAR

RESUMEN

La restauración y difusión de los molinos en la isla de Mallorca, situada en Baleares, España, y su recuperación como museos y recintos multiculturales, no son suficientes para su pervivencia en el tiempo. El objetivo del presente estudio es plantear la posibilidad del uso de estos recintos, tanto sus edificaciones principales como sus entornos como sedes para eventos relacionados con el turismo de negocios. Los resultados del análisis cualitativo descriptivo realizados nos llevan a observar que éstas edificaciones históricas nos ofrecen un marco diferente y singular como venue, válido y original para la organización de todo tipo de eventos, que a la vez que apoya, no solo el turismo cultural en nuestra isla, sino que beneficia la desestacionalización del modelo productivo mallorquín, favoreciendo en especial el crecimiento del sector MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), como sucede en otros destinos turísticos. Este nuevo uso que proponemos, permite que los molinos sean recuperados por la sociedad civil como bienes productivos, proporcionando a su vez  un espacio innovador que ofrecer a sus clientes.

THE MILL AS AN INNOVATIVE OPTION FOR MICE TOURISM: A BALEARIC PROPOSAL

ABSTRACT

The restoration and promotion of the mills on the island of Mallorca, located in the Balearic Islands, Spain, and their recovery as museums and multicultural enclosures, are not sufficient for their survival over time. The aim of this study is to propose the possibility of using these sites, both their main buildings and their surroundings, as venues for events related to business tourism. The results of the descriptive qualitative analysis carried out, lead us to observe that these historic buildings offer us a different and singular framework as a venue, valid and original for the organisation of all kinds of events, which not only supports cultural tourism on our island, but also benefits the deseasonalisation of the mallorcan productive model, especially favouring the growth of the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), as happens in other tourist destinations. This new use that we propose allows the mills to be recovered by civil society as productive assets, providing in turn an innovative space to offer their clients.
