Neo-marxist specializat in economia subdezvoltarii, continua teoria dependentei lui Raúl Prebish si H.W. Singer conform careia, societatea mondiala a dezvoltat o dinamica centro-periferica in care tarile subdezvoltate au fost condamnate la rolul de furnizoare de materii prime. Acusa burghezia latinoamericana de a fi fost prima interesata in mentinerea de relatii de dependenta cu arhiepiscopia.

Incepand cu anii 80 se alatura (si conduce) curentul istoric al World Systems.
