Economista especializado en los problemas del subdesarrollo es uno de los primeros en sugerir que no existen fases lineales de desarrollo. Hay similaridades y diferencias entre países subdesarrollados y las fases históricas de países desarrollados, pero es posible encontrar "atajos".
