Georgescu-Roegen, Nicholas ( 1839-1897 )

Economista rumano. Estudió matemática estadística en las Universidades de Bucarest y la Sorbona, donde obtiene el doctorado a los 24 años. Estudia economía durante tres años en Harvard, como alumno de Joseph Schumpeter

Tras volver a Bucarest, trabaja para el gobierno rumano y participa en las negociaciones de postguerra con la Unión Soviética. En 1948 huye de su país escondiéndose él y su mujer en unos barriles en la bodega de un buque. 

En los Estados Unidos se establece en la Vanderbilt University y colabora con Koopmans y la Cowles Commission, trabajando en programación lineal y la teoría del equilibrio general.

A mediados de los sesenta desarrolla ideas sobre un nuevo enfoque evolutivo-biológico de la economía.
