Tjalling Charles Koopmans ( 1910-1986 )

Tjalling Charles KoopmansTjalling Charles Koopmans naci en Gravelinas, Holanda. Al iniciarse la segunda guerra mundial, emigr a los Estados Unidos donde se nacionaliz. Obtuvo el Premio Nobel de Economa en 1975, compartido con el economista sovitico Leonid Vitaliyevich Kantorovich por sus contribuciones a la teora de la ptima localizacin de recursos.

Koopmans estudi fsica y matemticas en la Universidad de Utrecht y se doctor en estadstica y economa en la Universidad de Leiden. Fue asesor financiero de la Sociedad de Naciones en Ginebra (1938-1940). Ha sido profesor en las Universidades de Chicago (1946-1955) y Yale. Director de la Cowles Commission (1944-1954) y miembro de la Cowles Foundation en Yale (1961-1967).
