LA IMPORTANCIA DE LAS POLÍTICAS SOCIALMENTE RESPONSABLES DE LAS EMPRESAS TURÍSTICAS ESPAÑOLAS. UNA REVISIÓN DE INICIATIVAS E ÍNDICES

RESUMEN

Con este trabajo se pretende analizar el concepto de Responsabilidad Social Corporativa (RSC) relacionándolo con el sector turístico español. Primero se define la terminología y se hace especial hincapié en conceptos como los stakeholders, la sostenibilidad y la ética empresarial que juegan un papel importante en la definición y comprensión de las prácticas responsables socialmente. Además, se presenta el cambio de paradigma surgido en el sector en los últimos años respecto a la importancia de aplicar políticas responsables valorando las ventajas que suponen para las empresas y el poder que ejercen sobre otros aspectos. Finalmente, con el objetivo de presentar la realidad de la RSC en el ámbito turístico, se aborda un análisis de dos aspectos claves: iniciativas concretas y relevantes, de carácter internacional, como es el caso de las de la Organización Mundial del Turismo y de UNICEF; e instrumentos claves que existen en la actualidad para valorar el posicionamiento de las empresas en materia de RSC como es el caso de índices y certificaciones internacionales.

ABSTRACT
Throughout this paper, we aim to analyze the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) related to the Spanish tourism sector. We define the related terminology emphasizing the concepts of the stakeholders, the sustainability and the corporate ethic, as topics that play an important role for the definition and comprehension of the social responsible practices. Moreover, we present the paradigm change, which arose in the tourism sector during the last years and is related to the importance of put in place responsible politics by evaluating their advantages and the potential influence on other aspects. Finally we exhibit the reality of CSR in the tourism sector describing two outlines: relevant specific international initiatives such as the “World Tourism Organization” and current key instruments for the touristic companies to asses their status in terms of CSR (international indexes and certifications).
