RUMBA, IDENTIDAD Y CULTURA DE RESISTENCIA: UNA INICIATIVA PARA EL DESARROLLO LOCAL COMUNITARIO EN CAIBARIÉN

RESUMEN

Este artículo documenta la génesis de la idea de crear un proyecto sociocultural en la ciudad de Caibarién, cabecera de un municipio costero del centro norte de Cuba que propone la creación de espacios para la Rumba y otros componentes de las raíces afrocubanas de la cultura local a partir de su evaluación histórica donde estos elementos de identidad tienen un arraigo profundo en una parte considerable de la población que mantiene vivas esas tradiciones culturales y religiosas cuyo origen data de la época de la esclavitud durante la dominación colonial española.
El proyecto “La casa de la Rumba” esta dirigido a desarrollar en la población y otras personas la apreciación estética sobre la música, el baile y el arte de raíz africana, a estimular su desarrollo para que no perezcan estos valores de la identidad local; el proyecto presupone también la investigación de este legado para permitir el acercamiento de la sociedad al conocimiento de estos importantes valores culturales locales, sobre todo entre la juventud.
Se propone también elevar el conocimiento de la población sobre las religiones afrocubanas y sobre el tema del sincretismo religioso que es uno de los temas más interesantes de la cultura cubana y crear espacios para el diálogo intercultural local.

ABSTRACT

This article documents the genesis of the idea of creating a sociocultural project in the city of Caibarién, head of a coastal municipality of the north center of Cuba that proposes the creation of spaces for the Rumba and other components of the Afro-Cuban roots of the local culture starting from its historical evaluation where these elements of identity have an I root deep in the population's considerable part that maintains those cultural and religious traditions whose origin dates of the time of the slavery during the Spanish colonial dominance live.
The project "The house of the Rumba" this directed to develop in the population and other people the aesthetic appreciation on the music, the dance and the art of African root, to stimulate their development so that these values of the local identity don't perish; the project also presupposes the investigation of this legacy to allow the approach from the society to the knowledge of these important local cultural values, mainly among the youth.
He/she also intends to elevate the population's knowledge on the Afro-Cuban religions and on the topic of the religious sincretismo that is one of the most interesting topics in the Cuban culture and to create spaces for the dialogue local intercultural.
