The journal Entelequia. Revista Interdisciplinar was born in December 2005, although the first number on-line was issued in February 2006. It is an altruistic initiative. Neither authors, referees or editor are paid or asked to pay. We have no advertisement, but there are some links. Among other collaborations, we count on highly international renowned scientists, as well as new promising authors in several scientific popularization and research fields.
This publication is a means of spreading scientific works from different knowledge areas. It belongs to the research group eumed·net from Universidad de Málaga (Spain). It has been conceived in order to integrate scientific fields, specially thought for collaboration between academics, spreading of new subjects, new methods or new scientific branches. Also it is thought for research experiences in unusual fields of knowledge for authors traditionally ascribed to a concrete environ. Although www.eumed.net is basically an economic portal, this initiative enlarges its action and collaboration scope to all academic expertise. Both languages admitted, English and Spanish are the most used in scientific research.
Nevertheless this general idea, the journal remains open to all kind of work, settling some formal presentation minimums (final bibliographic references, bilingual abstract, author's note, etc.). Social Science happens to be the most frequent field providing paper for Entelequia, although methodological papers are welcome, as well as Natural Science (Physics, Biology, etc.), Engineering and technical matters. Once received and depending on their subject, the papers are grouped, sent to academical pairs and (if accepted) published under thematic dossiers, where some sections use to be fixed: Contemporary World, Epistemology and Knowledge Society.
All works are published under a public domain license called Creative Commons, in its version Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivativeWorks 2.5, which prevent from author's misappropriation, contents distortion or gaining from our altruist initiative.
Entelequia's board, aside business interests, national or racial identities, ideologies, parties or religions, keeps the right to refuse papers attempting to use our journal as a propaganda medium. This common sense principle does not hinder freedom of speech for authors' scientific opinions.
The period of this publication is half-yearly (issuing each spring and autumn). Every year we use to issue at least one special monograph number. Besides, Entelequia. Revista Interdisciplinar publishes e-books, specially those not usually counted among eumed·net e-books, due to their subject or language.
Along different numbers, there have been several incidents in various senses, which were commented in editorials. Nevertheless, this note tries to cover all numbers from the fifth on, in the understanding that any opinion expressed in editorial could influence author's intentions and expectations regarding the journal.
It is very important that authors, as far as possible, keep to the formal requirements, for we do not count on workers for administrative tasks and document formatting. Instead, we have disposal of volunteer (highly qualified) referees.
In our website, we show not only issued numbers and e-books, but also our formal guidelines, contact for collaboration or suggest, and other detailed information, such as databases in which it is possible to find us. Also our board's professional profiles are shown, as well as links to collaborating organizations. The website design is carried out in the most efficient way as possible, in order to an easy and quick use of consulting engines. This design, programmed with free software, includes search and counting engines, menus and shortcuts that makes it impossible to get lost. Download becomes easy, there are helping advice and so on, all thought for the good of readers and collaborators.
